How to POST form data with curl — and let curl URL-encode it

Classic HTML-form style data — or values containing spaces and ampersands that must be encoded safely first.

curl -d "name=ezra&plan=pro" https://example.com/signup
curl --data-urlencode "q=hello world & more" https://example.com/search

Good to know

--data-urlencode encodes special characters (spaces, &, =) for you; plain -d sends the string as-is.
