How to list, restore and drop Git stashes — pop vs apply

You stashed work earlier and now need to find it, restore it, or throw it away.

git stash list                 # see all stashes
git stash pop                  # restore newest stash and delete it
git stash apply stash@{1}      # restore a specific stash, keep it stored
git stash drop stash@{0}       # delete a stash you no longer need

Good to know

pop restores and deletes the stash; apply restores but keeps it.
