Read files properly: eza to list, bat to view
List the directory with icons and git status, then read the file with highlighting and line numbers.
On Debian/Ubuntu, most of these tools are also one sudo apt install away.
brew install eza # install
eza -la --icons --git # try: long listing with icons and git status
brew install bat # install
bat main.py # try: view any source file
